- At 1904 square miles, the park is bigger than the state of Rhode Island
- Ancient marine life fossils found in the park date back to 1.2 billion years
- The drive from the North Rim Visitor Center to the South Rim is 200 miles and takes about 4 hours
- The canyon is full of hidden caves. There is estimated to be 1,000 caves but only 335 have been recorded. Only 1 is open to the public.
